I do love this “fancy little beast”. So bold and handsome. Is this heat transfer vinyl?

Yes, it’s heat transfer vinyl. Worked like a charm on the fabric I chose (which was a happy occurrence!).

Marilyn – I’m so glad that you like it! I’m pretty happy with it, too. It was tempting to keep on using lines from the song (who wouldn’t love “deer and antelope playing”?), but I held myself back!

Thank you so much, Bethany! It’s kind of hilarious that I love this song – it’s mostly rainy and green here. No ranges whatsoever. I need to get my butt in gear and make my other pillows. I’ve been procrastinating for far too long!

FUN! that’s a really cute pillow and I love that it’s what you sing to your girls. Sadly I have neither seen nor eaten buffalo but I can telly you that Kangaroo also tastes like beef, only leaner and healthier 🙂

Oooh… Kangaroo tastes like beef? I’m surprised. The leaner part makes sense. Aren’t they always hopping around, making trouble? (And aren’t they also a teensy bit mean? Or is that something I just made up in my head?)

I love it Tara! So digging the buffalo – and I agree, it is a beautiful song- of course I don’t think I could sing it past the first verse and chorus but how much more do you need? ( I guess the whole song if you live in Kansas). I need to hook me up with a silhouette (said for the nineteenth time on your blog), feeling that some animal-ish pillows would be perfect for fall. And thanks a million for the fabulous surprise mention re: envelope pillow tutorial! Awesome! I can’t wait to see what you whip up with those beautiful fabrics!!

Woman, you’re a great writer. Have I ever told you that before? You probably already knew that…heck, it’s probably in part what propelled you to become an English teacher, but man, reading this post, I kept thinking, “She’s a great writer.” So, I thought I’d tell you! Because as my friend Gina taught me (yes, the same Gina who requested I make her son your “KEEP CALM” onesie), “Compliments don’t do any good just sitting in your head. They need to be shared.” 😉

This pillow looks AWESOME! Something about the white block font and that cute Bison silhouette and the blue-gray fabric. Like something out of a magazine.

Plus, I’m sure your girls feel so loved knowing that Mama made this pillow to celebrate your nighttime ritual. I can almost hear your melodious voice belting it out now…. “And the skies are not cloudy all day!”

    Hugs,
    Lauren

Oh, my favourite line of the song is “Where seldom is heard a discouraging word….” because that seems like a Utopia. Especially to a sarcastic wise-ass like myself.

Thank you so much for your endless support, sweet Lauren. My writing is the the one “craft” that I hold extremely dear. You can tell me that I can’t paint, that my seams are crooked, and that my sauce is burned – but let’s not critique my writing. It’s my escape.

Tell Gina that I think she’s very wise. If only we shared our compliments as frequently as we thought them.

What a cute pillow Tara! When I lived in Montana…we saw (and ate) lots of buffalo! I sang cowboy songs to my son when he was little too…I think that some of the old ones are quite dreamy and perfect for lullabies!

I wish my hubby would eat more buffalo. It’s so much better for us. I think that these dreamy cowboy songs are what give us girls our “cowboy complexes” as we grow up. Tell me that a tall drink of water in Wranglers and a cowboy hat doesn’t make you swoon? 😉

It turned out so cute! I’ve tried using that heat transfer vinyl and it takes forever to iron on when I use it. Did your fabric allow it to set in quickly or did you have to iron it for a bit? 🙂

I know exactly what you’re talking about, Megan. This fabric grabbed onto the HTV in under a minute. I have had some onesies and t-shirts that were SO stubborn and it took forever for the HTV to really stick. I try to use a fairly-hot iron and I “linger” over spots as I iron-on. I also wait about 10 seconds after I’ve run the iron over the image, because it gives the HTV a chance to cool down a bit and that also encourages it to grab onto the fabric.

I’ve also found that smooth HTV is far more forgiving than flocked, but maybe that’s just me! 🙂
